If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.

Sooo Armageddon comes....
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso let's say armageddon comes,do you believe that all jw's would be destroyed because jehovah knows it's a false religion...it can't be denied, for the most part, they try to live by the bible...if anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that god wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually....so what i'm trying to ask is....do you think you're in a better position right now not for freedom but for salvation than the witnesses??
if by the time you're finished reading this post armageddon is here...would u wish that you still were a witness or are you satisfied that you've made god proud?.

On JWN .. are you a teacher or student ?
by caliber inlikely most poeple feel that they at times can and should be both , that is a teacher or a student.
i know i have learned and gained much insight into many things here.. but most often.
fail to make acknowledgement... not sure why i guess i hate for a person to feel i am flattering them or kissing up.

Student! I actually enjoy reading and thinking more than posting. There are many great posters here that both spark my interest and my thought process.
But I occasionally pipe in with some thoughts of my own.

Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...
by Alfred inin 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.
oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

No Governing Body in Paul's day
by The Searcher inthe given understanding of the bible account at acts 15 regarding the circumcision issue is that a "governing body" resolved the issue.
is this assertion based on scriptural evidence?
while jesus walked the earth, some of his apostles were contentious with each other regarding who would be superior to the others.

Reality setting in for Jehovah's Witnesses?
by MrDarkKnight inwhen my friends and family try to "reason" with me about my decision to leave, i immediatley begin to question the interpretation of the so-called prophecy in the bible, i am getting the following consistent response:.
"it does not matter if the end comes in my lifetime.
i know i am doing god's will.".

Saying God wants all to attain repentance (as taught by the JW's) is just circular reasoning for why the end is not here yet. It never has to come! Sinners are born everyday, and they have to repent too!
